Substitute Diogo Jota's goal in the 85th minute cancelled out Kevin De Bruyne's opener for City, leaving the two teams level on points at the summit of the table.

The pulsating encounter lived up to its billing as a clash between two of England's finest sides, with both teams creating numerous chances.

City took the lead on the stroke of half-time when De Bruyne fired home a stunning strike from outside the area.

Liverpool came out with renewed purpose in the second half and eventually found their equaliser when Jota headed home Andy Robertson's cross.
